Its been up in the loft over a year now no problems, although my loft is
more a loft room. Its only a PIII 500 (power used ~68Watts total) (soon to
be a PIII 667 woo hoo) so it doesn't mind getting hot, I don't think a P4
or Athlon would like it so much.

I'm also in the South UK and yes the loft was warm last summer, when it
wasn't raining :-)
