This really a feature of the 2.x development branch. You might be able
to get something like this running with a Freevo backend and use VLC
on the frontend. Unfortunately this is one of the limits of the 1.x
series I have not found a decent way around. IF you have a good enough
network connection you might be able to do something with XDMCP or
LTSP to get the freevo display to show up on a second box and use LIRC
network features to remote control Freevo over the network..
