I haven't used that combination but I'm pretty sure one of the 
developers who wrote the osd code does so I'd guess it should work.

Can't say I've seen that but it could be to do with the livepause plugin.

Maybe add DIALOG_SKIN_XML_FILE = 'blurr'. The most simple test is to 
press mute when just in freevo's interface, try that and describe or 
post a screenshot of what it looks like.
