Because we'd keep repeating ourselves. And why do that, when you can
search the archives for previously written answers ? The more often
we answer the same old questions, the more terse the answers will become.
After a while, a FAQ is written.

Documentation on "How to use CVS", like most software is normally on the
web-site of the primary distribution source of that software. You usually
get a copy of it when you download the software.
If you are actually talking about wanting to get anonymous access to the
CVS sources of freevsd, then that should be documented. But I can't find
the information anywhere, apart from in the mail archives.
Since the mail archives are on the web site, doesn't that actually
answer your question ?
