This idea has been in my mind for some time now, so I would like to bounce
it on the list.
We need a simple, small linux system to replicate on the virtual servers
right? We don't need X, we don't need configuration programs.
Then why we use Redhat. I think mainly for 2 reasons:
1. It's simple to install
2. It supports rpms which makes us lazy....
However it's not properly server-oriented (yes I know. I've been running it
on servers for many years now).
This is why I looked in the past on rocklinux and few others.
Now I discovered this tiny distro that lacks X :-)
http://www.trustix.net/products/trustix-1.2/
and also this one looks promising (a little more complete):
http://www.beehive.nu/
Ideally I would like to have good scripts to generate the skel from a proven
good underlying system (much like freebsd's jail).
Then I would compile freevsd from source and manually install the (x)inetd
extensions.
Then I hope to end up with the final server.
Any toughts?
