Hi
just an example - webmin is a 'free' server admin tool but there are
packages out there you have to pay for if you want to add functionality to
webmin such as a reseller admin level (isp control centre) $249 from
http://www.ispcontrol.de/
We have looked at many different server admin systems as well as testing
freeVSD - including Cobalt, Ensim at $5000 and $2500 per month (although
they have a basic 2 level panel at $99 for 10 domains and $699 for 250
domains), systemfusions evolution ware at $15,000 plus 15% pa plus plus,
Sphera at $700 per license minimum 5 licenses, Cpanel3 at $99 per server per
month, plesk at $500 and the list goes on and on......but you can guarantee
there are some very scary prices out there (not sure about the truth
though:) we have put months of work into looking at these and none really do
everything we want - that includes freeVSD
We are hoping freeVSD will in the future contain everything we are looking
for and think paying for a windows GUI may help that process - because they
may then ask us what we want and we have seen many GPL projects become
fragmented as other developers develop addon's and the focus goes
Plus, lets be honest guys anyone here do all there work for nothing? We
certainly charge for our services and we will be profiting out of freeVSD
because we do intend using it commercially so.....
lets wait to see the price:)
