the fixing wasn't really the problem although i imagine someone has to run
bind_fix etc to actually fix the problem - it's just the system does appear
to let VS admins put just about anything in a dns record without questioning
it (although I do have to verify that it was the user who put the username
after the IP!!!!) - then when bind reloads it coughed and died
