I'm putting together a system to begin experimenting with freevsd.

Quite naturally, I run into a problem, even before starting with the freevsd
install..

I know I've seen the answer to this one before, but searching everywhere, I
can't find it..

The problem:

Redhat 6.2 booting, after initial install (after CD removal)

screen --
CPU: AMD AMD Athlon(tm) Processor stepping 02
Enabling fast FPU save and restore...done.
Disabling CPUID Serial number...general protection fault: 0000

I know what the problem is -- the AMD, produced after the Intel/MicroSoft
serial number
crap does not have a serial number to disable. the kernel initilization
ends up with
a non-defined value, and calls address 0 because of it (stupid assembly
language error,
in other words)..

There's a work-around for the initial bood, having something to do with
"serial=1", etc.

However, I do not know the exact syntax/value for either a hand boot, or
the value to fix LILO with after I get the system started up..

Could someone either give me the syntax/command line options, or point me to
an
information source.

Thanks in advance
