There's in fact a simply solution. If Idaya won't release the code anymore, it
means they're not ready to GPL it anymore. That means we'll have no more access
to the free software, so we might as well take the code of 1.4.9-2 and start
working on it ourselves in a new project (should we call it 'ReallyFreeVSD' ?).
I can understand Idaya wants to make some money out of this. But what they're
doing now is simply breaking the good ties they had with their users. Instead of
getting customers to buy the software, they're scaring them away.
The power of Linux results from the open source part. If Linux were closed
source, there would have been less innovation and less trust from large
companies. Same thing for FreeVSD : I don't want to buy software of which I'm not
sure it's really 100% what I need.

Idaya should at least change the name from FreeVSD to CheapVSD or something...
