Pablo, I have to say that I agree wholeheartedly with everything that you say.
We are very grateful to Idaya for freeVSD and we have bought the CD, in part, as a thank you to them (also in part because it comes preupdated with the latest 2.2 kernel, daemons etc. etc.) But if version 1.4.10 is good enough (ie bug free, stable etc) to put on a distribution CD, then surely its good enough to place as a source .tar.gz and an rpm on the public ftp site?
