I test FreeWrt with my patches disabled and it still spontaneously rebooted at the same spot. Therefore, I'm wondering if my patches are even the cause of this problem. It's definitely happening outside my code, so it's suspicious.
I'll check out a truly clean build later, generate some proper patches, and see what's up. If it works ok, then that's that. If it doesn't work, then I'll fix it. At wbx's suggestion, I may port these mods to the 2.6 jffs2 and then backport it to the 2.4 kernel.
