Hi Ralf, I had pretty much the same problem as you (and we're using the same box too). > - shut down using the web interface. Problem: only root may halt, > lighttpd runs as nobody. Is there a way to let users halt/reboot, > e.g. by adding them to some group? I chose this method. I am running busybox's httpd with CGI support and I wrote a simple shell script for mounting and unmounting partitions and halting the system. You can configure httpd to run as root (not very nice, but works).

I am using a cheap one with a PL2302 chip - drivers for this chip can be compiled into FreeWRT. I am planning to use it for my LIRC IR dongle ;). There is no need to solder anything onto the box (yeah, you still need to care about the actual button and a driver/deamon). > - Using one of the hardware buttons to shut down. Can someone give > me a clue how to do this? Also sounds nice - this would be a pretty clean solution, but it is sort of hard to reach these buttons. If someone has experiences with the last two options I would be very interested as well. - Daniel
