as far as I know, if you have a telly, they consider you to be able to
recieve BBC, which means you have to pay.
I got caught once, and no matter what I tried, they still fined me. I tried
the old "I dont watch BBC..." but that just pisses them off.

I think that you would need a liscence for the Video recorder alone,
as it is classed as a colour tv, 
I do not know if you can restrct the frequencies at which it would receive
channels, thus removing the BBC crap from it.

i've just noticed that despite the fact that i pay them 100-odd quid a year,
the BBC only show either shit programmes or shit programmes about how good
they think they are.

So, does anyone know: Would I still have to pay if I got telewest to switch
off the BBC channels (my flat has no ariel socket, see) or I got rid of
cable tv completely?

I'd still like to keep the telly to watch videos on. Would I still have to
pay?

If I do, how about watching DVDs on a PC?
