We (SNL) did that briefly last summer because of the vulnerabilities with Acrobat and Reader versions < 8.2. Once we got everyone converted to 9.0, we allowed those attachments. I know it was a real problem because we spearphished a customer with the Adobe vulnerability as part of a red-team engagement. To the best of my knowledge, there hasn't been a new vulnerability in pdf and our computer security folks (with whom I work regularly) have not said anything about a problem. Either LANL is about six months behind on security updates or they know something we don't know. -- Ray Parks [email protected] Consilient Heuristician Voice:505-844-4024 ATA Department Mobile:505-238-9359 http://www.sandia.gov/scada Fax:505-844-9641 http://www.sandia.gov/idart Pager:800-690-5288 ============================================================ FRIAM Applied Complexity Group listserv Meets Fridays 9a-11:30 at cafe at St. John's College lectures, archives, unsubscribe, maps at http://www.friam.org
