From one Fanboi to another, I'm not planning to buy one. It just didn't live up to my expectations. I had been holding out, hoping it would make a fair replacement for my wife's 12" G4... but it just doesn't. I may have to break down and buy an aftermarket touch notepad built up from a MacBook. But they are pricey.

That said, if I *was* buying one, I'd say skip the 3G and take the extra memory. My 16G iPhone never quite fills up but that is because I know the high water mark and avoid it... I'm sure if I had 32 I'd hover around 30 instead of 15/16.

Have fun with your new toy... when are they likely to ship?

OK, I'm getting an iPad .. and pre-order starts today. The tough question is which of them to get?

- 3G/WiFi: I'm certain I'll get a WiFi only version. As innovative as the iPad 3G plans are (monthly, no contract required, instant on, two data levels), Santa Fe doesn't have good coverage, especially with ATT.

- 16,32,64 GB: This is tough, I don't know how I'll use the critter. My iPhone is very low end -- original 2G/8GB. With care, no problems, and iTunes helps a lot to simplify things. But with the iPad, I suspect I'll want to download most of my music, and have several movies on it. I'm leaning towards 32, even though its an extra $100.

Any one else considering pre-order? And if so, which version?
