Owen-

Is your iphone a 3g version? If so, does that help? .. i.e. do you get really good coverage and speed?

Edge... and coverage and speed suck. I live out of coverage and use Edge only to get my Visual Voicemail when I *am* in range and a little with Google Maps, etc while in big cities (including SFe and ABQ).

I'm ready to try a temporary T-Mobile account, unlocking using the same technique you reported a while back. I'll keep both T and ATT long enough to be sure T is an upgrade ( a month or two?).

I have a hint that T-mobile has increased their data service in my home region (Otowi Bridge between Pojoaque and Los Alamos) because ATT got mad that I was getting/using too much off-network services (had to be my voicemail download in the LA-Pojoaque corridor cuz I don't use anything else really). What will probably be the real clincher is if T-mobile provides better *voice* service. I have about 6 dropout zones between my house and ABQ... my house itself is a deadzone, Jacona, SFe hill, sometimes mid-599, La Bajada, Santo Domingo dip (sometimes), San Felipe (almost always). It mostly feels like fumbled handoffs but in some cases (Jacona, Otowi) it is just a plain big fat hole in the map. What do I want from living in Rural NM after all?

Apple's plans to "deliver" nationwide on a given date is another reason I'm a Fanboi myself. Can you imagine anyone else (except maybe Google) being able to schedule something like that and have a 99% chance of actually delivering?! I'm sure there will be a handful of customers who won't get their iPad until Monday or Tuesday, but I'm sure that UPS/FedEx/USPS/??? will be quite busy that day, not to mention the Apple Stores.

Carry on!
- Steve
