I've run into the same problem as Dean (and used the recovery method Robert
talks about, which, I assume, puts the files back in everyone's folder(s).)

So does anyone know of a service whereby I can delete the file from my HD's
folder, but not interfere with others?  Is FTP the only answer to date?
