I believe the pair of extensions that are AdBlock / AdBlockPlus are designed to be cross-browser, and are in the Chrome Web Store. I seem to get by with just FlashControl (which is immaterial because I do not have the Flash .so anyway since it is nonfree), but I have also heard good things about NoScript.
