I am so happy to hear that there may be hope for growing sunchokes here in town. Sarah is always looking for plants that do well in this climate, and can even be sympathetic to plants others find unsavory for their voraciousness (tree of heaven, for instance). She likes the weeds for their compost and we are always working to turn the soil. She has some potatoes growing here and there and she is careful to collect the seeds of all of the flowers around the yard. We also have a leaky faucet that might be good for growing sunchokes, though harvesting so close to the house may be a problem. Are you at all involved in the New Mexico Mycology Society? I had gone to one of their meetups some years ago but lost contact with them. They seem like a really cool bunch.
