The current surge of windows rantingness (that's uh like truthyness.) Is
basically: they became complacent, retarding the health of windows. While
windows stagnated and was so---stale, and sanitized that somehow it's code
base is just terrible. They've compounded that with just sludge code. Then
management doubled down on using copilot to code. about 30-40% of windows
code had zero tooling or optimization passes. All kinds of debug code in it
(you know: asser xyz 999 times) no one went back to transpile that out. I
have no idea how that happens. ouch so One fix would fail, then they'd
have to patch that fix out to patch in fixes, now where in there sandboxing
off the known bad code somehow . I am not nearly as experience as the least
experience coder in Friam and Wedtech circles. Even I had a terrible case
of Eine Fremdscham.
So bassically enough people going back to unix, and also it's entirely
different world than back in the day. For the most part people have better
acess to alternates than a awful desktop expereince, companies dumping all
kindes of OEM computers because they want reliablility above all. So:
Linux.
I feel like I'm having flash backs to the 80s. Possibly because MS, and
some huge amount of hollywood is spiraling out of controll and gloves off.
It's weird that people are just now waking up to the hillarious power
imbalance. The narsccistics and sociapaths in the comapnies are so
outnumbered by outsiders that's not even close. They really do need other
people than any company, or developer will ever need windows. I mean why
drop thousands of dollars for what ever there calling visual studion and
rest when litterally every distro has textf edditors, ide's etc and
commandline compiler is both free, and shows a long log of the warts and
all? they get much faster unit testing, QA, maybe even help from the FLOSS
and Open source communites for fixing things.
