it's certainly worth reading the Aldor User Guide. In terms of a
programming language it's much better specified than SPAD. I'd even
suggest that you do some programming exercises with Aldor. Once you got
a feeling for the language, it's only a small step to understand SPAD.
Unless, the Aldor compiler is released under a free license, it's a dead
language. Stepen Watt is the head of aldor.org. Contact him if you want
to see Aldor free.
Another problem of Aldor is that there is an algebra library, but it is
not as powerful as the one in FriCAS. And in FriCAS you have a CAS
environment, being able to interactively work with the domains you
write. In Aldor you can basically only write programs like in C.
There is an option compiling Aldor programs against the FriCAS library
and then use it inside FriCAS. However, unless Aldor becomes free, I'll
not support this link. You probably have seen my monthly mail to Stephen
Watt.
