Yes, I also find this unworkable. I guess the way this is intended to work is that the user Rotate/Scale/Translates the 3D graphic until they get what they want and then render to a 2D file format. I never got that to work, which is why I created an alternative graphics framework:
I would also be in favour of removing the standard X based graphics machine from FriCAS. However, first there must be an equivalent that also has the interaction mode.
Martin, since you created the new framework (I just ran it and quite appreciate the svg output), do you have any idea how to at least connect that to an external program that can manipulate the graphics? A tutorial to use such a program would be welcome. Maybe it would also be nice to be able to start such a program from within FriCAS.
BTW, update your website. The )compile steps are no longer necessary with FriCAS 1.1.6.
