I'm sure that you have also read http://axiom-wiki.newsynthesis.org/ProgrammingSPAD but can you tell a bit about your programming experience? Do you have code in some public repository that you can show us? What languages do you know by now and to what extend? SPAD itself isn't actually very hard to learn. As usual, the problem is more to understand the libraries and to use the features that are already there.
