You ask there whether the texmacs format is used.

As far as I know TeXmacs can embed FriCAS in its documents and when one
calls fricas from TeXmacs, then fricas outputs in texmacs format and
texmacs does the formatting.

It is also here where the ioHooks come into play. Actually, Martin Rubey
also programmed then into the efricas interface.

Thanks for this information. I have put it in a new section of the document, about 2/3 of the way down, called:
'How FriCAS Communicates with External Code'

Then, even if Waldek does not agree with the changes, at least all the information I could gather is together in one place.
