Merging would be fine for me. However, I would neither call the function
pomopo! nor fmecg. Don't we have a policy to give functions a telling
name? Once one understands what the function does, pomopo is not so bad,
but it has 4 arguments

  polynomial, coefficient, exponent, polynomial

so pomopo is not really intuitive.

I don't really have a good suggestion, but given that the function name
does not appear too often, at least polymonompoly is a bit more
informative. We can even have

  poly_+monom_*poly

but I don't know whether I really want such a name.
