Are you sure that you are running the downloaded binary and not some
older version?
I have been looking around and see the problem.
I unzipped it into my directory /opt/fricas-1.3.3/
And descended to: /opt/fricas-1.3.3/usr/local/bin$
and did ./fricas
But examining the script "fricas" it sets absolute paths as
/usr/local/bin
Ignoring the source directory. Since my unzip location was elsewhere,
it ignored it.
I went to /opt/... since I didn't want to eliminate the old version
until I was sure the new one worked.
I just did : sudo cp -R ./* /
and it comes up right now.
