Well in some places getting more than 2Mbps can be ... very difficult. Copper lines are not more well maintained... so you can get good network in the last 10 years (eg 8MBps) and the time going, getting worse and worse connectivity. My parents has before FTTH they wait for 4 years... 4Mbps... then 2Mbps... Barely usuable for all "modern services".
