Port 6667 was temporarily blocked at the request of ITS Support Services
due to a new virus that was causing problems with several computers on
campus. This block has been removed.
And yes, several of ITS technical staff are members of FSCK and
participate on this mailing list so when problems are discussed on this
listserv ITS folks will see the postings too.

Yes, as I recall there is a virus that uses port 6667, and that was
blocked at the firewall. If there is a very big need for that to work,
you can voice it on this list and the appropriate party will notice.
