Dear Linux List People,

As the end of the semester approaches, I thought I might put out the word that
I have been collecting donations of used computers and trying to put them to
good use. This is a very informal thing so far, but over the past two
semesters, I have been able to distribute about four computers to people who
could use them---two even running Linux. So far it's been people I've known
in some way--through church or school or through friends, so I can't claim
that I have a system for the most equitable distribution of hardware, but I
can claim that each person had a need.

I could probably do something with any computer with USB ports (that seems to
be a good dividing line between REALLY old and just not fast any longer), and
in the past I've used about 300 MHz as a cut-off as well. People have given
me a couple older computers, but so far I've only used them for parts, and
Carol would get mad at me if too many of those started to appear in the
basement. Still...

In any case, get in touch with me if you're interested. I'd also be
interested to know if anyone knows a place that accepts old computer equipment
for recycling or disposal (for the above-mentioned REALLY old equipment that I
can't use).
