Yeah I did figure it out...came to the same conclusion...restarting didn't seem to help though...every restart it wants to come back up as DHCP. I just killed the dhcp as you said and it works fine. It doesn't matter if it is messed up on restart. It's my MythTV box and so never restarts unless there's a power failure or something.
