To: Meredith, Katie, Katherine, Jon, Janet as quick reference to this am's
mtg,
And to everybody else: Just so you know

Outlines of a multi-media presentation for 1/17 del. Mtg as field test,
1/25 PICA "rice and beans" mtg as friendly audience, and 1/30 meeting with
Rep. Michaud, state legislators, ?Bangor city councillors, paper press, et
al, at U/U church, sharing that last mtg's agenda with Maine Fair Trade
Campaign re the Maine Jobs, Trade and Democracy act as a Maine Citizens
Response to free trade here.

Opening remarks re Who we are, Why we went to El Salvador, Who we met,
Winners and Losers, and what we're about to see.

Five minute photos/music to give sense of people and place

Intro to the Impacts, and to the idea of parallels in U.S.

4 minute (on average) thumbnails, with photo backdrop, of themes of:
        Disintegrated communities/ abandoned "sectors"
Maquila experience & deregulated labor practice
        Migration and why
Privatization & lack of access to basic services
        Environmental degradation
        Government sidelined, unwilling/unable to help
The rich/poor divide & growing concentration of wealth
        Civil Society Response

The above are not necesssarily in that order, and may be done
through transcript excerpts, testimony, stories, or other narration, with
photos.

The intended conclusions include that we see similar trends here,
and that the FTAA will hasten our trajectory towards this third world
scenario.

Still very much a work in progress. If any folks have specific
experiences/stories they might like to relate to underscore these themes,
feel free to get in touch with Meredith, Katie, Katherine, Dennis, Janet who
are working hard on this in the next two weeks.

        Cheers
                -Dennis
