The best way to really look at it is like this.  Your simply keeping the
honest people from being tempted.  Is not locking up your bicycle futile?
certainly.  But you do it...why?  becuase the number of people looking to
steal your bike would quadruple if you didnt.

I agree, the effort spent to prevent cut-paste, printing, etc, are basically
futile. I mean look at it like this: Somebody has an electronic version of
the document in their possession. They can spam it out on every listserv on
the planet in a day. They can upload it to a hundred different "Free
Softwarez" sites. The knowledge gets disseminated. How does being able to
print make a difference, other than being an inconvenience for the person
who wants a paper copy?

If controlling the information was a critical issue, I'd never release an
e-version.

I mean, c'mon. Having an electronic version of a book that you don't want
developers to copy is like going to an international locksmiths convention
and announcing you invented an unpickable lock.
