I agree in theory about saying thanks,  but problem I have is that if I
thank someone privately - and their solution has solved my problem, I then
get another 5 or ten mails to the list with  solutions to my problem -
therfor I think its an idea to reply to list (once per thread) with "problem
solved thanks to X, Y, Z, and M..."
