Yvette,

I don't claim any special knowledge beyond what I picked up at the
conference. What I've been able to figure out is this:

+CF5 will be a "standard" upgrade of the CF product as we know it -- with
new bells and whistles, of course. As someone has already noted, it will
still be based on the current C++ server code
+JRun will continue to serve jsp's, servlets and EJBs.
+CF6 (released in a year, more or less) will still be CFML based but will
be something like a servlet or jsp pages. CFML will be 'compiled' into
either individual page files or one big, site-wide file and the CF engine
will serve from that. Apparently the CF server will be java based; the
'compiled' files may be java bytecode or somesuch.

You will still be able to write in CFML and CF6 will know what to do with
your code. I don't have any idea whether you will be able to inter-mingle
CFML and Java code. I don't think that the JRun and CF engines will be
unified into one product when CF6 is reality but I could be wrong.

If you've got the time (and bandwidth), you should watch the streaming
video from the conference; its on the Allaire website
(www.allaire.com/conference ??). I don't guarantee that the video contains
all the answers but Ben Forta's presentation is probably more useful than
my opinions.

If I'm wrong on any of this, somebody please flame me -- the list is just
too calm and quiet these days. ;)

Does any know what the difference is going to be between new next release
of
CF and the current (JRun & JRun Studio)?
I'm hearing that CF5 will involve Java in some way. And the JRun products
also involve Java. Not clear on this.
I'm curious as to which products I need to invest my $$$$ in.
