Yes I have used popup Windows in the pass, but it would not be appropriate
this time, for the one the popup would have to be modal.
What I need to do is grab all variables, store them somewhere, go off and
doThat, then on return, reset the saved variables. Then on top of that I
have nesting to take into account.
This must be quite a common problem

Usually I tackle that kind of problem by popping up another window
to doThat in. When I'm done doing that, I close the pop-up and bring
the doThis window back into focus (and refresh it if necessary). Also,
I store all of the data for the wizard on the server somewhere, so
I don't have to worry about passing it through the form.
