Hell no!!

I was not being sarcastic. I was just using this trivial and not-useful
<CF_IF> tag as an example of a technique that is VERY useful indeed.

Many is the time I have wished to write a custom tag with opening and
closing tags, that would do some logic, and then either execute the enclosed
code or bypass it as appropriate.

Then Hal (of course) showed me how this could be done, and I passed it on to
the list.

The example I used (ie duplicated the basic CFIF tag) was intentionally
trivial.  But what about this?:
<CF_ifBlueMoon>
  <CF_DoSomePaidWork>
</CF_ifBlueMoon>

The <CF_ifBlueMoon> custom tag does everything it needs to do to decide if
today is a Blue Moon, maybe hundres of lines of code, and then executes the
enclosed code or not, as appropriate.

Nat has pointed out another situation where this kind of conditional custom
tag might be useful.

It's a technique that should have been obvious, but I had never figured it
out for myself, and had never actually seen done until a couple of days ago.

Once again, I thank Hal, and once again I cry out at the pitfalls of email.
We see sarcasm where none is intended, and completely miss it when it's
actually present ;-)

Your American sarcasm missed the point. He was being sarcastic.

I am sitting here asking myself . . . .why? Lets see you are adding a tag
(more processing).
....
Thats a kewl tag no doubt.

I can't believe I spent the time writing that response. It must be my
American sarcasm. I just do not see the point . . .
