Alan,

Where can I find a copy of this security model? I tried to google on
"kittycatPermissions" but didn't find anything.

Yeah, I've got some insight into kittycatPermissions, cuz, well, I did
write it.

Here is the straight dope: kittycatPermissions is an API, sans GUI, for
managing complex users-groups based permissions ala WinNT/2K.

You have...
Users
Groups
Actions
Permissons

Users belong to one or more Groups
An Action is something you would be either Granted or Denied Permission
to do.

So in daily use, if you have a user "fflintstone" and he belongs to the
"Water Buffalo" group, and you want to check if he has permission to "Go
Bowling on Wednesday Night", you would issue a particularly structured
CFMODULE call, and in return you would get back either "GRANT" or
"DENY", depending on the permissions granted to either Fred as an
individual, or the Water Buffalos as a group.

There is a hierarchy, too. If you explicitly deny Fred permission to go
bowling, it does no good for Fred if the Water Buffalos as a group are
granted the permission.

In summary, if you are familiar with Windows NT permissions, or
permissions on MS SQL Server, it behaves in similar fashion.
