When I run into this situation, I usually set up a special case to
suppress the "standard" layout:

<cfcase value = "blah">
        <cfset suppressOutput = "yes">
        <cfinclude template="something.cfm">
</cfcase>

Then check for suppressOutput and set the fusebox.layoutFile accordingly
(typically to a file with no formatting)
