This is true. Well sort of.  From what I understand about open-source, you
can sell a version of an open-sourced software but you still have to give it
freely to the community.  Basically you can modify it and offer a support
fee. I never double checked this, but that is my current understanding.
Like Redhat, Costs $50 but you can always download it from their site
without the book or phone/onsite support.

Of course, that depends on what you mean by open source.  My definition
