john beynon replied to a message I posted on fbcommunity saying that it is ok to post OT to this list (as far as i could tell)... if this is incorrect, please just let me know: ------------------------------------------- Here is the scenario: 1) I have a popup that searches for a name (it links back to the opener to populate certain fields)... 2) if that comes up with no results, the popup provides a link to another window that let's you enter a person... 3) once the new person is inserted, another link shows up that should populate certain fields in the first of the three windows...
Ideally, I was looking for something like "opener of the opener"... that would be very OO of Javascript to do... but looks like it is not possible... So I tried naming the first window (window.name = "original_window";) but when I try to use that to pass data back to the original form, I still get the error: "window.original_window.document is null or not an ojbect" I have tried opener.opener which is not valid... i also just tried using this: "original_window.document"... this comes back as "undefined"... Any thoughts?
