I always place menu item and global XFAs in the fbx_settings file - if
different circuits have their own layouts with menus, I put those XFAs
in the circuit's fbx_settings. The only XFAs I have in the switch are
things like xfa.submit, xfa.cancel, xfa.edit, xfa.next, xfa.back etc.
Makes it *much* easier to read and follow. I also find when going back
to work on a site that I haven't looked at for a while, it's really
handy to print out the fbx_settings file and tape it to the side of my
monitor.

But with the wireframes, I have decided to only put all the menu items
in the home page - all other pages that have the main menu simply link
back to home. I figure it's easier to read and work with that way, plus
less intimidating for the client, and only requires a little more
explanation. I have my first ever client-wireframe-meeting experience on
Friday :)

I was wondering the same thing plus, as a result of that, I was
wondering how this should be handled in the switch. I find myself
duplicating many XFA's for the menu for every fuseaction that uses the
default layout. Maybe it's better to place these menu XFA's in the
fbx_Settings.cfm?

Subject: wireframes and menu items

Hi,

I'm using wireframes on a site rework I am doing. I'm trying to map out
the site as it exists at the moment, so I can run through the proposed
changes with the client. Problem is, this site has a LOT of navigation
on each page - like 12 or so main menu items, plus 12 category links
that are always visible, plus 20-odd date links that are always there
(it's for an arts festival). What's the general practise with these - do
I include all menu items on each page? It's gonna get messy if I do. Or
should I just have them on the home page, and have all the other pages
link back to the home page only? This would be easier to grasp but then
it won't truly represent the possible paths through the app.

Kay.
