Jeff,
I attached an example of some code I have used in the past to index both static and 
dynamic content.  It's not commented very well (I just don't have the time today), but 
you should be able to get the picture.

Couple of notes:
1) In my fbx_settings file, I set some xfa's to be used when creating links on the 
results page (see line 81 in actIndexSearch.cfm for an example).
2) This example indexes static content (in the form of xml files) and dynamic content 
from the db.

I'm also working on create a series of custom tags to make this much easier.  If
