Sorry to jump in, but I am running into a similar situation with a dynamic
table markup generator we built. If I understand what you are saying, i
may be able to use your function to determine the largest text string in a
"cell", which in turn can be stacked or collected as an object and
compared to the other table "cells". This would in turn be passed over to
the "column width" markup below?
