Yes, that is definitely possible, although it might take a bit of
trial-and-error to get it right. With tables, you're going outside
the WYSIWYG environment of FusionPro Desktop and jumping into
defining the layout programatically. That said, tables are certainly
one way to get around the otherwise general inability to modify the
layout in JavaScript rules. (Another is body page usage.)
