It's kind of like the street or route reference a postal carries
travels.
Check Code/Digit
This calculates or adds all the individual digits together PLUS the
Check Code and makes the total divisible by 10. So if all the digits
added up to, let say 42, the CD would be 8, so the total is 50 and
evenly divided by 10... understand?
I have a CASS sorting subscription that I use with a VERY basic
mailing
program (MyMailist.) Will the CASS sort supply the missing elements?
YES... that will give you what you need. Process your list and use
the CASS barcode instead.
Look for something referencing... "The DPBC POSTNET bar code consists
of the start/stop character, 9 digit ZIP code data, two DPBC numbers,
check digit and the start/stop character. The two DPBC numbers are
usually the last two digits of the street address, PO Box or route
number. If you are planning on using DPBC, we recommend you examine
chapter 5 of the USPS Domestic Mail Manual for information on
handling abnormal addresses."
