Peter, Thanks for the reply. We have a DocuSP rip for our iGen3 instead of a Creo so the VPS format does not work. I would be using that format if possible since I have never had a problem with it when I programmed for the DocuColor 6060 we had in the beginning, and the rip speed took less than one tenth the time.
The graphics that are being sent to the template are pdf files that are being made out of a different FusionPro template. Our client (a real estate firm) logs into that template site, create their individual postcards, uploads a photo of the house being sold, and that card is then stored offline along with their mailing file. Twice a week the mailing files are batched together and run collectively. The cards will run fine if sent individually through the BatchMail template, it is only when they are run batched together and sent that the problem occurs. I have had problems with transparencies before and have also got the black boxes. However, these files are being created by FusionPro 4.1P1b which is not able to handle transparencies. I may be a little naive here about this, but it was my belief that if FusionPro can't handle transparency going into it, then it can't create a transparent file coming out of it either. Am I incorrect with that assumption? Another reason that made me not believe that it deals with transparency is the fact that on some of the pages of the print run the image is correct, while on a different page, the same card image will be black. I have an Igen3 with a Creo RIP and I have had the most success using VPS as opposed to PS, PDF, and VIPP. You will also get faster rip times. My next question is what file type are the graphics that are being called in? When I get black boxes where graphics should be (usually related to transparencies) with PS or VPS, distilling the graphics being called in almost always works. Hence my question of what file type are the graphics being called in. Regarding the HP Indigo working, I have a NexPress and this problem doesn't occur on it, the problem is usually an IGen RIP related problem. If you have a lot graphics being called in, Acrobat Pro has a batch run feature that will allow you to save many files as .PS with a just a few clicks, that you can then just drop on distiller creating distilled PDFs for you to call in to Fusion Pro.
