Darren, Actually you won't need to write a rule for this at all. In the Text Editor where you have your text, highlight the line that says, "Dear <name>". Then click the 'Paragraph' button and at the bottom of the next dialog, click the 'Suppress if' checkbox to on and select 'Containing Empty Variables' from the dropbox next to it. This will cause the line to not print if <name> is empty.
