This has been an issue in Excel for many, many years. We always put a sequence number in the last column if we are using Excel. If we don't need a sequence number, we just create and fill a column at the end with data that we don't even need just to be sure everything works okay. Some Excel spreadsheets work okay with an empty field at the end; but we don't take that chance.
