Well, one of two things are going wrong: either that is not a valid
HFS path (is the boot volume really named "MacOSX"?), or the file
can't be opened for write (maybe it's locked by another app?).

Yes, it's throwing another exception at the call to of.open("write") a
few lines below, which you're not catching. That's exactly what this
next message is telling you:
OnJobStart, line 27: Error: File operation open failed
Note the line number. An uncaught exception short-circuits execution
of the current function, much like a "return" statement does.
