Unfortunately, the Intelligent Mail Barcode does not supersede the UCC/EAN 128 code for parcels. I began with the Intelligent Mail Barcode and was instructed to replace it with the UCC/EAN 128 by the Mail Piece Design Analyst at the Business Mail Entry Unit.
Again, all I need to know is how to enter the FNC1 code that is required by USPS. From what I've read, an FNC code is required in all EAN 128s, whether it's FNC1, or FNC5, or whatever. IDAutomation's own software uses a tilde code to produce the FNC code. Added to my frustration is the inability to scan the code myself. I have to take it to the BMEU who then takes it to the BMC to find out if it's correct. My latest attempt failed for two reasons, the bars were too thin and the FNC1 code was missing. I can increase bar thickness by increasing the point size. IDAutomation's documentation says to use 16 pt IDAutomationC128L to achieve the 3/4" height required. This point size instead produces a barcode which is barely 5/8" tall. 15pt IDAutomationC128XL produces the 3/4" height but is too thin. According to the analyst, it is only .011" on the thin bar and they recommend .015". I've changed it to 21pt IDAutomationC128L which is 13/16" tall but should produce the .015" thickness. If someone can just tell me how to add the FNC1 code! +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+- FusionPro 5.0 Now Available!
